Collection: Best Hair Ties for Sensitive Scalp

If your scalp aches by the end of the day, the problem is the tie.

Traditional elastics grip tight and never let go until you rip them out, pulling at your scalp with every wear. For sensitive scalps, that tension adds up fast.

The Buckle Hair Tie holds secure without cranking down on your scalp, and releases with a click instead of a yank. No dragging, no pulling, no end of day dents from a tie that's been gripping since 7am.

It's the only easy release, zero tangle hair tie, made for scalps that need a softer hold.

Black Buckle Scrunchie holding a low ponytail comfortably on long brown hair

Why it works for sensitive scalps

If your scalp is tender, the worst part of a ponytail is dragging a tight elastic out at the end of the day. The Buckle Scrunchie and Buckle Hair Tie click open and unwrap, so there's no tugging at your roots. You choose how many wraps, so it holds secure without having to be cranked tight.

How to use Buckle Scrunchies

1. Tying up your hair

  • Start with the buckle closed
  • Hold the buckle so you know where it is
  • Wrap 2 to 4 times around your hair like a normal hair tie
  • Buckle wraps around last, so it can be the first thing to come off!

2. Taking down your hair

  • Locate the buckle (should be around the outside loop)
  • Press the sides of the buckle with the fleshy part of your fingers to click it open
  • Hold both ends of the buckle if you have thicker or curlier hair so it doesn't get lost or tangled
  • Let it unwrap and twirl out of your hair. Remember, there's no need to pull anymore!

FAQ

Questions, answered

Everything people ask about Buckle Scrunchies for sensitive scalps.

See how it works
01 What hair tie is best for a sensitive scalp?

One you can wear loose and take out without tugging. The Buckle Scrunchie lets you choose 2 to 4 wraps, then clicks open and unwraps so nothing pulls at your roots.

02 Why does taking my hair tie out hurt?

Dragging a tight elastic back over your ponytail pulls on every strand at the root. A buckle opens first and the tie unwraps, so there's no drag.

03 Will a looser ponytail stay up?

Yes. Wrap it fewer times for a softer hold. The buckle keeps the wraps where you set them, so it doesn't slide down as the day goes on.
