Collection: Running Scrunchies & Hair Ties

Search "best hair tie for running" and the complaints are always the same three. Elastic that slips by mile two, running hair ties that leave dents, snap bands that catch on the way off.

Buckle Scrunchies fix all three. Your ponytail stays put through tempo runs, long runs, and race day, then the buckle clicks open and it unwraps with no fight.

Runners, running moms and daughters chasing PRs all want the same thing after a workout. Stock a few running scrunchies for race weekend and easy days.

Running hairstyles that stay put

The high ponytail is the runner's default because it clears the neck and bounces with your stride instead of against it. Set it with a Buckle Hair Tie wrapped 2 to 4 times, buckle on the outside loop, and it holds through a long run without sliding down at mile four. For long or thick hair, a low braid keeps the swing off your shoulders: braid, then close the end with a Buckle Scrunchie so the tail comes out with a click instead of being dragged through the braid. A bun under a cap or headlamp holds in a Buckle Scrunchie without a second elastic. Whatever the style, the part that used to hurt, taking it down sweaty, is now a pinch of the buckle.

What hair tie is best for running?

The best hair tie for running stays put when you sweat and comes out without ripping. The Buckle Hair Tie clicks open and unwraps after your run, so there is no pulling or tangles, and it holds your ponytail secure for every mile.

How do I keep a ponytail from loosening on a long run?

Wrap a Buckle Hair Tie 2 to 4 times with the buckle going on last, set it as snug as you like, and your ponytail stays high for the whole run. Afterward, click the buckle open and it unwraps from sweaty hair with no snags.

Do Buckle Scrunchies work with a running hat or headlamp?

A Buckle Scrunchie works under a running hat or headlamp in a low ponytail or bun. It holds secure under the strap, and after the run you can click it open and let it unwrap without taking your hat off or pulling your hair.

Running scrunchies and hair ties that click open

Why it works for runners

Runners know the ponytail that slides down by mile three and the sweaty hair tie you have to rip out afterward. Buckle Hair Ties and Buckle Scrunchies wrap tight enough to hold the whole run, then click open and unwrap, so sweaty hair comes down with no pulling or tangles.

How to use Buckle Scrunchies

1. Tying up your hair

  • Start with the buckle closed
  • Hold the buckle so you know where it is
  • Wrap 2 to 4 times around your hair like a normal hair tie
  • Buckle wraps around last, so it can be the first thing to come off!

2. Taking down your hair

  • Locate the buckle (should be around the outside loop)
  • Press the sides of the buckle with the fleshy part of your fingers to click it open
  • Hold both ends of the buckle if you have thicker or curlier hair so it doesn't get lost or tangled
  • Let it unwrap and twirl out of your hair. Remember, there's no need to pull anymore!
