Collection: Hiking Scrunchies & Hair Ties

Hiking hair ties sit under a pack strap or a hat for hours, and that constant pressure is what leaves your scalp sore by the descent.

Buckle Scrunchies hold through the climb and click off in one motion at the trailhead instead of tangling into the back of your collar.

Good for day hikers, backpackers and trail runners who need hiking scrunchies that survive sweat, wind and elevation change.

Hiking scrunchies and hair ties

Why it works for hikers

On a long hike your ponytail gets sweaty, windblown and pressed under a hat and pack straps, and pulling a tie out at the car rips through all of it. Buckle Hair Ties and Buckle Scrunchies click open and unwrap, and hold tight the whole trail.

Benefits

  • Hair comes down at the trailhead with a click, not a tug
  • No windblown tangles getting worse when the tie comes out
  • A braid or low pony that stays put under a hat and pack
  • Wear a spare on your wrist so you're never stuck without one

Features

  • Click open buckle, so sweaty, windblown hair unwraps instead of being pulled
  • Extra stretchy and wraps 2 to 4 times for a braid or low pony
  • You set the tension, snug for steep climbs or relaxed for an easy loop
  • Fabric scrunchies and thin hair ties, so one fits under any hat
  • Really strong and made to last forever. Wear it out (you should) and the buckle has a 100 year warranty

How to use Buckle Scrunchies

1. Tying up your hair

  • Start with the buckle closed
  • Hold the buckle so you know where it is
  • Wrap 2 to 4 times around your hair like a normal hair tie
  • Buckle wraps around last, so it can be the first thing to come off!

2. Taking down your hair

  • Locate the buckle (should be around the outside loop)
  • Press the sides of the buckle with the fleshy part of your fingers to click it open
  • Hold both ends of the buckle if you have thicker or curlier hair so it doesn't get lost or tangled
  • Let it unwrap and twirl out of your hair. Remember, there's no need to pull anymore!

Questions, answered

Everything people ask about Buckle Scrunchies for hikers.

See how it works
01 What is the best hairstyle for hiking?

A low braid or low ponytail that sits under your hat and backpack. Tie it with a Buckle Hair Tie and click it open when you're done.

02 How do I stop my hair from tangling on a hike?

Braid it before you start and take it down without pulling. A Buckle Hair Tie unwraps at the buckle, so you aren't dragging it through windblown hair.

03 Does a Buckle Hair Tie fit under a hiking hat?

Yes. The thin hair tie sits low and flat, so it fits under a sun hat or through the back of a cap.
