Collection: Cycling Scrunchies & Hair Ties

Cycling hair ties fail in the same place every time, right under the helmet straps. Buckle Scrunchies stay put through climbs and sprints and click off in one motion at the end of the ride.

A normal elastic digs in and slips once you are an hour in. A cycling scrunchie that needs readjusting at speed is not a real option.

Road cyclists, spin regulars and mountain bikers all deal with helmet hair the same way, with cycling hair ties that do not fight back.

Cycling scrunchies and hair ties

Why it works for cyclists

Riding long means a ponytail fighting your helmet straps, hair knotting in the wind, and a tie that rips strands when you pull it out after. A Buckle Hair Tie or Buckle Scrunchie holds a low pony secure for the whole ride, then clicks open and unwraps.

How to use Buckle Scrunchies

1. Tying up your hair

  • Start with the buckle closed
  • Hold the buckle so you know where it is
  • Wrap 2 to 4 times around your hair like a normal hair tie
  • Buckle wraps around last, so it can be the first thing to come off!

2. Taking down your hair

  • Locate the buckle (should be around the outside loop)
  • Press the sides of the buckle with the fleshy part of your fingers to click it open
  • Hold both ends of the buckle if you have thicker or curlier hair so it doesn't get lost or tangled
  • Let it unwrap and twirl out of your hair. Remember, there's no need to pull anymore!

FAQ

Questions, answered

Everything people ask about Buckle Scrunchies for cyclists.

See how it works
01 How should I wear my hair under a bike helmet?

A low pony or two low braids below the helmet cradle. A thin Buckle Hair Tie keeps them secure and clicks open when the ride is over.

02 How do I stop my hair tie slipping on a bike ride?

Wrap it 3 or 4 times at the nape and finish with the buckle on the outside. You control the tension, so the Buckle Hair Tie stays put for long rides.

03 How do I get a hair tie out of sweaty, windblown hair?

Click the buckle open with your fingertips so the tie unwraps. Hold both ends if your hair is thick or curly, and the tie comes out without ripping or knots.
